The Bible contains six admonishments to homosexuals and 362 admonishments to heterosexuals. That doesn't mean that God doesn't love heterosexuals. It's just that they need more supervision. ~Lynn Lavner
I've always been a big fan of Sex & The City which sadly, I haven't had the chance to finish the entire season. So I've skipped a few here and there but nevertheless I enjoyed every episodes of that. Now here comes another TV series which quite blew me away in all the similar aspects which SATC did, with its witty script, carnal discussions of sex and also the real issues we deal with now and then. Though I must warn that it is somewhat similar to SATC, like it is set in New York City, cast of 4 very successful women (2 of them are married) etc. Therefore I guess I have to be a SATC sucker to like this as much.
This is Cashmere Mafia, from the creators of SATC, produced by Sony Pictures Television and premiered on ABC this year in January 6th. Unfortunately this series have also been affected by the WGA Strike (Writers Guild of America Strike), only 7 out of 13 episodes were produced. So far I've read that Sony Pictures do not have plans to release them on DVD.
BUT... there is still hope of catching it on TV but unfortunately, it is only available on Singtel's MIO-Tv. *Cry* So those with MIO-Tv have the advantage!
I must say that I am not publicizing for AXN channel or for NBC, but Medium is really a pretty good series not to be missed. Its a pity they don't have this in stores (at least not locally I think) and currently only aired on the AXN channel.
So all the night shifts I've endured during the weekends didn't go to waste, as I had the opportunity to watch this series at my own leisure! (I hope my boss don't see this... well double pun intended!) But what really strike me was the really clever and amusing script thats totally unconventional and non-linear, depicting what its like to be around the "Medium", Allison Dubois's everyday life (Starred by Patricia Arquette). The perfect marriage of everyday family drama infused with the sense of supernatural "tang" really defines the genre of Mystery and suspense, and at the same time putting forth a whimsical spin to the narrative. (But that is a really general explanation of what it is about... Read more about it at NBC's website.
What makes it even more exciting is her struggle with her abilities (Which is not like what you see in Heroes...) of ESP and precognition with her career as a "consultant" for a local District Attorney. It is interesting how she got into the job as a consultant as she does not have any relevant Law Degree nor experience. So all of her talent lies in her revelations and precognitions of murders (that comes to her in her sleep as dreams) and clues she provides to the Police Department, to help solve crimes and capture mass murderers. In which she was then questioned in the eye of the Law, whether her abilities are credible and should she be recognized for her work as a consultant. There is one particular episode where she was forced to lie in court during a trial as the US Justice system will not take her claims as a legit source.
Allison Dubois is a real person living in Phoenix, Arizona in the US who wrote several books dealing with the aspects of dealing with spirits and mediumship. This series Medium, is actually inspired by her work as a Jury consultant and solving crimes for Texas Rangers and the Glendale, Arizona police department. You can read more about her here
Well I'm not so keen on reading her books, but I do recommend that if you are into the supernatural and good entertainment, Medium, Tv Series Season 1 & 2 are available on Amazon or all the other major online book stores. Here's an extended preview of the show from youtube. Enjoy!
The first few thoughts that will come to my mind every time if I were to organize a movie event are whether the film is generally a well-received film, valued for its artistic values or simply just an enjoyable one. Bothering on neither sides of these thoughts, was 10,000 B.C.
For XiaoYao and some of us who actually have some general idea and knowledge about the history of the world and of evolution, the film simply filled laughing gas into our stomachs as the film progressed... and I realized that our little giggles and mini-jokes actually disturbed some really intense and focused film-goers. (I think this film has so much potential to be made into a spoof instead!)
Not to slam the film on the face too hard, generally I feel that this is by far the worst film director Roland Emmerich had ever made in his career. But nonetheless, maybe we should applaud his courage in taking up the challenge of separating Fiction with Non-fiction methods of making this film into the mainstream "Action & Adventure" genre. Why I said this is because the film generally was not accurately anchored by the facts of history or of evolution-science but more likely of a very fictional based narrative mode. Telling of a "legend" and of a "Story" handed down by generations, almost seemed very inappropriate for its film title: 10,000 B.C.?
I guess I am rather confused with this film because Roland Emmerich made some very good science-fiction films (in my opinion) like Independence Day &The Day After Tomorrow etc. and now this? Hmmm... potentially-spoofy!

Hey guys, here's a personal review of a upcoming film. Had never done any professional reviews so please bear with me =)
CASHBACK, an UK-shotromantic comedy, is about a guy, Ben Willis, who becomes an insomniac after breaking up with his girlfriend. (Much like me sometimes.. yea, now you know why I'm always sleepy and tired. Can't sleep well these days or even sleep at times. Sad right?) Having too much time on his hands , Ben decides to make better use of it by working at the supermarket. Interesting things happen as Ben gets used to the night shifts: being an artist he discovers that he seems to be able to stop time! What I like about this film is that the story line is rather simple but laced with British humor thus making it funny and engaging. The linearity of the storyline keeps one from getting confused. It has a good reflection of real life relational issues that people experience everyday. A bit of conflict, a bash of anger, parts of sadness and ultimately joy, making one feeling emotionally balanced after watching it.
The film doesn't try to wow you with over-the-top computer graphics like Transformers but rather with good old cinematography with many scenes were portrayed in various interesting angles, making it a rather beautifully-shot film. The romantic final scene of the film with the main couple in the snow is a clear example of this.
Keeping it real I guess forms the root of this film; at the same time, the honest portrait of Ben's life just makes this movie real interesting.
