Welcome to TheBearProject!
We are a local gay community group where size matters. Our events aim to create a friendly environment where bears, cubs, “G-men” and other stocky and big-sized men – as well as the guys who love them – can hang out, exchange ideas and ming

We have shifted to facebook which makes things easier for us logistically. Please look for us at TheBearProject@Facebook
Add us there and you'll receive all the latest info and events. See you there!

Shout-Outs!

The Bible contains six admonishments to homosexuals and 362 admonishments to heterosexuals. That doesn't mean that God doesn't love heterosexuals. It's just that they need more supervision.

The Taipei Aftermath

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone from TheBearProject a Happy New Year and may many good things to come and to look forward to in the year of 2008!

2007 ended rather quickly for some of us and many things had happened since then. Especially the founding of TheBearProject and knowing many wonderful friends. Of course in this new year, there would be many more projects and activities that we have in mind and I hope that you guys will continue to give us the support that you have already been giving us relentlessly.

As for Taipei, I believe all of us had a wonderful time and I must say it definitely brought us closer together in many different ways. Singaporeans being Singaporeans, we avoided the crowds and stayed somewhere "safe" during the countdown and so we missed the Taipei 101's fireworks and the party at Jump. But nonetheless, we had a great time at G-Mixi (a local pub owned by a Singaporean @ the Bear Village in Taipei) and the boss was extremely accommodating. I suppose he found it meaningful to have celebrated with us (as Singaporeans) and it was the Bear village's 1st New Year Party which was significant for the future and survival of these chains of pubs & cafes.

So for those who didn't go on this trip, I believe there will be plenty more to come. *apart from the headaches of logistics*

Here is a clip of what we missed in Taipei. Thank you YouTube! (Its as good as being there, only please turn down your speakers, there is a very annoying & noisy woman in the background...)

Once again, Happy New Year to all!

hey guys, possible dates are:
24 Dec – 2 Jan
20 Dec – 27 Dec
27 Dec – 2 Jan
what do you guys think?
I've not been to taipei, some said that from 24/2 – 2/1 could be way too long.

Rookcub said its too long if we go from 24/12 till 2/1... cos theres nothing much to do in Taipei. UNLESS... we can go somewhere else after Taipei, like BKK (cheapest) or HongKong? Maybe Christmas in Taipei & New year in HongKong or ViceVersa...

Wishful thinking hor hehehe...

Hello all. Just my 2 cents. Last year, we took Thai Airways to Taipei and even though we had to stopover at Bangkok, the good thing is that we get to celebrate Christmas in Taipei and New Year in Bangkok. 24/12 till 2/1 is really too long even if you report to "Office" for work most of the time. Unless you travel out of Taipei to other parts of the country?

There's actually lots of gems in Taiwan which is little publicised. For ppl who have not visited Taipei b4, 3-4 days is max to explore Taipei . After that you can take lots of day trips out to JiuFen, WuLai, YangMingShan and hotsprings. A trip to Taizhong, KaoHsiung or Hualien will nicely fit in between Christmas and New Year. Couples can also consider going to sun-moon lake. quite romantic.. ;)

Wow stonedwin,
You sound so expert... See I've never been to Taiwan before. I suppose it will be nice if the couples enjoys these scenery watching stuff, nature, hot springs etc.

But its a good suggestion as well! If I'm doing this might need yr advice where is where & what is what hehe

wah lau, siberian and me have been going to taiwan twice each year, at least 11 days each trip, and we've never run out of things to do. the trick is to travel out of taipei during the weekdays.

Hi Guys, just a little note;
Normally between Sept, Jetstar will be having promotion for Dec tickets (2 to go or 2 for 1) and only on sale for a short period. For Cathay (1hr transit in HK) will be up in Oct and of course, Taiwan's carrier, Eva & China Airlines will also be having their promotions subsequently. Lastly, our very own Singapore Expensive Airline, SQ does have a 2 or 4 to go promo. Do Check Out!

Hi all,

Just to see if anyone are looking for a cheap hotel to stay in Taipei(Ximen area). We found a nice little hotel by the name of RedCabinon the net. Spoken to the staff on the phone and find their staff quite nice and friendly. You can check out their site at http://redcabin.mmmtravel.com.tw. We already made out reservation for our Dec trip. :-P
