Well we didn't exactly watched much of SATC, rather of some of the good episodes, 'Hostel 2' and a gay comedy flick... But I'm sure all of us had a great time! *Oooo the food! Thanks for the generous back-ups you guys brought!!! The ice-cream, the chicken, the pizzas and the alcohol...*
Thank you all for making this screening possible! Especially to StockySg and aphrodite76 for letting us mess up their place... Looking forward for the next one. So keep posted!
We are a local gay community group where size matters. Our events aim to create a friendly environment where bears, cubs, “G-men” and other stocky and big-sized men – as well as the guys who love them – can hang out, exchange ideas and mingle.

Cashback, A Film Review by Timberman
Hey guys, here's a personal review of a upcoming film.
Had never done any professional reviews so please bear with me =)
CASHBACK, an UK-shot romantic comedy, is about a guy, Ben Willis, who becomes an insomniac after breaking up with his girlfriend. (Much like me sometimes.. yea, now you know why I'm always sleepy and tired. Can't sleep well these days or even sleep at times. Sad right?) Having too much time on his hands , Ben decides to make better use of it by working at the supermarket. Interesting things happen as Ben gets used to the night shifts: being an artist he discovers that he seems to be able to stop time!
What I like about this film is that the story line is rather simple but laced with British humor thus making it funny and engaging. The linearity of the storyline keeps one from getting confused. It has a good reflection of real life relational issues that people experience everyday. A bit of conflict, a bash of anger, parts of sadness and ultimately joy, making one feeling emotionally balanced after watching it.
The film doesn't try to wow you with over-the-top computer graphics like Transformers but rather with good old cinematography with many scenes were portrayed in various interesting angles, making it a rather beautifully-shot film. The romantic final scene of the film with the main couple in the snow is a clear example of this.
Keeping it real I guess forms the root of this film; at the same time, the honest portrait of Ben's life just makes this movie real interesting.

UPDATED: Paprika (24th July, Tuesday)
Nice seeing all you guys again! It was nice to finally get to talk to more people this time. Smaller group, easier to handle :) Well, a visually stunning anime, but i must say it's kinda confusing at first. I would prefer The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, if it's still showing, you guys should watch it. (Thanks to hush for giving me the theme song to Paprika!)
Another good outing i must say. See you guys this Sat for Sex And The City and Sun for The Simpsons Movie!
hugs,
Vitalauto
Thanks to Hardcore, it's brought to my attention that Picturehouse has started showing Paprika! For people not familiar with the movie, here's a synopsis:
From groundbreaking director Satoshi Kon (PERFECT BLUE, MILLENIUM PRINCESS and TOKYO GODFATHERS), comes the latest eye popping anime from Japan. When a machine that allows therapists to enter into people's dreams and explore their unconscious thoughts is stolen, the research facility is sent into uproar and all hell breaks loose. In the wrong hands, the device could be devastating, allowing the user to completely destroy a dreamer's personality while they are asleep. Only a young and attractive female doctor Atsuko Chiba, can stop it. Entering the dream world under her exotic alter-ego, code name 'PAPRIKA,' she attempts to discover who is behind the plot to undermine the new invention.

Smokers, It Isn't That Bad After all (St James Power Station)
I guess this post calls out to smokers who have been doubtful about going to clubs and not being able to smoke freely anymore... Well, the positive aspects seemed very promising as one will not smell like an ash tray especially in a smaller confined space anymore. Clubs and pubs that are smaller will cause inconvenience for non-smokers, worse for those who have health issues. So all in all, I think this legislation is somewhat good in that sense.
So my argument is this, since we smokers have already been through the 'out-of-cigarettes' ordeal in the middle of the night and there are no nearby 7-11 or 24-hour coffee shops for backups, desperate enough we might even take a taxi or walk 10km to get our cigarettes (That is the extreme example), then what is walking a few meters to a nearby designated smoking area in a club? Its nothing really, even if its heavily congested with other smokers or the contending efforts we got to go through to get there!
St. James Power Station was where I went last night(8th July, Sunday) just for this purpose. Oh by the way, St James on a Sunday is a GAY night. Cos I have been there a couple of times and I always found myself complaining that its too smoky (It gets pretty bad sometimes) and hot. Big clubs like these must have a good air circulation/flow, due to the amount of smokers and also ventilation for the dance floor. *Not a club-logistic person, just guessing*
I was pleasantly surprised to find that the smoking areas are well directed are big enough for at least 20 people to smoke at one time. There are a total of 3 areas, one is at the back-end of the club(next to a bar-counter's exit), another is a room-like area with a LCD Tv playing soccer and glass panels as walls, *good place for a good look at the 'good' people* and the last one will be at the entrance of the club, with the rattan chairs and umbrellas. Thats customer-service for ya, can't imagine a club/pub that discourages smoking!
So to conclude... smokers, not to worry cos they have not forgotten about us and had embraced the legislation. I even saw someone smoked inside the club last night, but the security was polite enough to direct him to the smoking area! As compared to my work place... just feel like punching the security chief there. He's totally against smokers (Not smoking ok, he hates people who smoke!). Well, I won't say where :)
You can also contribute your reviews on anything you like! Email them to sgbearcast@gmail.com, I will certainly give credit to the authors do not worry :)

Putting a 'Face' to the Nicknames...?
Updated 4:03pm
From the comments and responses, I agree that the anonymous should remain as they are and it is entirely up to them to identify themselves as what they like... & I agree that there are stalkers and fairly desperate people out there who are waiting to do weird things as part of their livelihood or just out of plain interests! We have a few examples haven't we VitalAuto? *Muahahah...*
Ok, case closed! On to the next...
____________________________________________________________________
All hail to the sexy bears and all the hot guys that love 'em!
It has come to my attention that some of our fellow bloggers had queried about putting a 'face' to our screen-names/nicknames. I'm not too sure about this idea though, but I'm quite sure that many of us might not want to disclose identities now, cos after all the whole world's watching! I guess the whole issue of being anonymous is a privilege to everyone who uses the internet and I'm in no position to put anybody in the spotlight... *Unless you requested to...*
However, since Fridae.com is where we have most of our profiles, why not do a 'nick-link'? I got confused a few times by the nicknames fellow bloggers use here. Besides, you can control what you want to show on your Fridae.com page, so I think there's flexibility there, a system of control.
I don't know, what do you guys think? :)
yours happily,
Asimov_22

New Recreational Club in Town: The Ten Men's Recreational Club (A non-comprehensive review)
Why I Did What I Had To Do
The very 1st thing that VitalAuto asked me about this place was that, "What does Ten Mens mean? Men is already plural what... why got another 'S' there..." You know what VitalAuto, I went to Google up & down the internet right, I couldn't find any significance on the word 'Ten mens'. If anyone knows the significance, please share... heheh..
So I think there have been a couple of re-shuffles of management here and there recently, like X'pose now had become 'Same' and I heard Diamond went to tap into the straight-men market, as in they stopped branding themselves as being a Gay sauna anymore. Thats good isn't it, at least the market is moving and evolving... Which also means that crowds will disperse and form new ones.
So there I was after contemplating for awhile to go there since I had nothing better to do on a late Sunday afternoon... no no its not an excuse ok... Well I was just curious and thought maybe I could do a review of the place since it has termed itself a Bear Sauna.
The Review
1st thing 1st, if you are very unsure where this place is, its actually a level below Mox. It used to be a lesbian bar but now its mixed... Anyways, you just take the same lift but stop at level 3 and the entrance is directly just outside the lift area. It reminded me Rainbow Sauna in Hong Kong... or maybe some Saunas in Bangkok can't remember. So its quite private as it is. The only downside I can ever think of, is that when you accidentally bump into your fellow friends in the lift on one of your 'discreet-escape' to the sauna. That is if they're on their way to Mox and your not hahah... But of cos, you can always pretend that you're gonna join them at Mox anyway. :P
The entrance fee I had to pay is $18, $8 for entry and the other $10 is membership. It should be a one-time payment for the membership and members will be able to enjoy promotions at a later time. The membership card is quite professionally done! Its plastic & discreet too! Not those cheapo cardboard paper material.
There will be someone to escort you to the locker area (if they think you're new) and briefly just explain to you where the steam room is, where to smoke, the darkrooms etc. The lounging area is pretty spacious, with new comfy sofas and a big LCD tv smack on the wall where you can watch movies. The bar counter is also quite nicely done except for the fact that they don't serve soft drinks or coffee (maybe not yet), and 2 stale-looking plates of pastries sitting there. Oh they do have drinking water... but its almost empty most of the time. One thing I thought was really jarring was the PC monitor where you can surf the internet was placed smack on the bar counter and everyone will be able to see what you're surfing... Shouldn't there be some level of privacy?
The locker area is very nicely done actually, intuitively designed and not just straight blocks. They're actually curvy. Not too bright and not too dark, just nice to see yourself while changing and other things you want to see! The lockers are new, clean and spacious and the management STRESSES on SAFE SEX! The condoms and lubricants are dutifully provided and placed neatly alongside these mini-cards that provided information about AIDS and reminds you about safe-sex once again. This is good, cos I think its time we grow up a little, instill a little bit of that knowledge & responsibility in our brains. There are just too many ignorant people out there who not only harm themselves but also others.
Ok I think I talked too much... So I went for a smoke out at the balcony which is open-aired, like a corridor where the toilets were and bamboo blinds are used to cover up the place so that nobody can really see what the heck goes on there. The toilets are clean enough, and the impressive thing that I noticed was that there were big shower-heads coming out from the ceilings, and liquid soap is provided as well! That means... you can practically shower & shit at the same time! How convenient is that? Well of cos when they showers are full, you can use the toilets to shower instead... Or whatever sick fantasies you have. Oh, also the floors are a little slippery so thread with care. So thats that...
Oh I failed to fully check out the steam rooms cos... well I got a little intimidated by some people there so I left early. But I had a glimpse... dark and steamy... Went in less than 5 seconds then I stepped out. It smelled clean, nothing slimy nor gooey on the floor... (Yet...) So since its still new, seems like it is the best time to visit. But all in all its still better than many other saunas I've been to. *oops* Hmm what else... The most important part of that place which I didn't go to... were the dark rooms and the *ahem* rooms where you play. I guess I wasn't adventurous enough today. (Too many scary looking guys standing awaiting their 'catch' by the door ways...) But the rooms look functional. So for those who will be visiting this club, do let me know how the darkrooms and play-rooms are. :P
Conclusion
So to wrap up, I think Tenmensclub did a good job in the decor and packaging of the experience. However, I felt that they're lacking abit of that essential experience in running a Sauna, probably they were under-staffed. I Don't know, just felt they could have done a better job since it was their 1st opening day... Oh one more thing, its always good if they can attract different groups of bears or variety of bears there. Cos I realized... that place seemed like A Day-Time Oso Bar... I'm not exaggerating... Anyways, do visit Ten Men's Club and experience it for yourselves!
Follow the link for more information! http://www.tenmensclub.com/
yours critically,
Asimov_22
